As one of Broward County’s largest and most vibrant suburban hubs, Coral Springs faces a pivotal moment. The city must balance the demands of aging infrastructure, rising housing costs, and commercial revitalization while navigating a heavy municipal heartbreak. Managing these transitions requires forward-thinking, energetic leadership that looks toward the city’s next quarter-century rather than remaining anchored in past operational defaults.
In this cycle, voters in Coral Springs are asked to select a Mayor and fill two commission seats. The County offers the following endorsements and recommendations to guide voters at the ballot box.
In the mayoral race between incumbent Scott Brook and Commissioner Joshua Simmons, the choice comes down to vision, energy, and the future trajectory of Coral Springs. While Mayor Scott Brook has dedicated years to local public office across multiple terms, his approach has increasingly favored routine stewardship over transformative, long-range planning. Coral Springs cannot afford to simply coast on its past successes while neighboring municipalities aggressively modernize.
Joshua Simmons is the clear choice for Mayor. Since his election to the City Commission in 2018, Simmons has consistently proven to be an energetic, results-driven, and forward-thinking champion for the city. He possesses a sharp understanding of municipal finance, regional policy, and state-level intergovernmental relationships, having successfully advocated to bring millions of dollars in outside funding back to Coral Springs for vital infrastructure and environmental priorities.
Simmons brings a modern approach to governance that emphasizes fiscal discipline, public safety, proactive constituent engagement, and smart economic development designed to attract young families and vibrant businesses. He listens, asks demanding questions of city administration, and offers the visionary leadership needed to elevate Coral Springs regionally. It is time for a new chapter at City Hall. For Commission Seat 4, Jeffrey Adelman stands out as the most qualified, pragmatic, and community-minded candidate for the dais. A respected local attorney, long-time resident, and dedicated civic volunteer, Adelman brings a deep knowledge of municipal issues, legal compliance, and public policy.
Adelman’s focus centers on the essentials of good municipal governance: preserving neighborhood safety, supporting small businesses, ensuring fiscal accountability in the city budget, and investing in resilient infrastructure to protect property values. Seat 3 remains vacant following the tragic death of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer earlier this year, a profound loss that sent shockwaves through Coral Springs and left an enduring void in local public service.
Among the six candidates vying to fill the remainder of her term is Marly Metayer, the late Vice Mayor’s mother, who entered the race seeking to carry on her daughter's legacy of public advocacy and community health priorities. Her candidacy brings undeniable emotional resonance to a field of candidates offering varied backgrounds in business, healthcare, and neighborhood involvement.
Given the deep personal tragedy hanging over this special election and the distinct perspectives offered across the six-candidate field, The County makes no endorsement in Seat 3. We encourage voters in Coral Springs to evaluate each candidate’s qualifications, platform, and vision independently to decide who can best serve the district during this delicate period of transition.
