Broward County's public schools are going through changes. The district is in desperate need of School Board members who understand that education policy is about students, families and the educators who power them. Four years ago, conservative Moms For Liberty activist Brenda Fam shocked Broward County insiders when she won the District 6 seat. She resigned just two years into her term. The incumbent, Adam Cervera, was appointed to the seat in 2025, following her resignation.
In our judgement, he has not earned a full term. That's why The County endorses Roberto Fernandez III.
Fernandez has the track record of community engagement and dedication to improving the public schools of Broward County. Fernandez recognizes the need to make sure that the district concentrates on student academic performance and overcoming the many problems facing the district such as under-enrollment and diversion of public funds to private charter schools.
In the coming years, the Broward County School Board will make major decisions, from deciding which schools to close or consolidate to how much money to spend on teachers' salaries. The School Board carries a huge responsibility as they are managing the sixth largest school district in the country. This responsibility is greater than spectacle and attention grabbing antics. The winner will get a full four year term.
