In South Florida’s coastal cities, rising costs of living, increased frequency of natural disasters, and deteriorating infrastructure all limit governance to ever more reactionary and incremental approaches. In District 5, the people need a council member who combines both a thorough, local understanding of the area with an ability to understand sustainable practices, civic engagement, and municipal policy. Adam Roberti is best suited to fulfill this role.
A local, Roberti brings an experienced, grassroots view of municipal governance to the table. An expert in climate adaptation and public participation and the Executive Director of the Xavier Cortada Foundation, he brings to the role a rare combination of experience and knowledge when it comes to environmental resilience that most municipal leaders lack. Roberti understands that the issues of coastal infrastructure are not merely policy issues but are instead issues of keeping the streets dry and maintaining property value and long-term affordability for the city's residents.
When it comes to infrastructure and resilience, Roberti stresses the need for rapid improvements in stormwater management systems and the implementation of septic to sewer conversions at reasonable costs. He also wants to increase residents' standard of living. He realizes that the ever increasing costs of housing, property insurance, and utilities can result in pushing away long-time residents and working people from Hollywood's neighborhood.
To ensure genuine government accessibility, Roberti aims to bridge the gap between City Hall and everyday residents. He plans to make city decisions more transparent and inclusive by introducing bilingual text updates, holding accessible community office hours, and creating flexible comment opportunities for residents who are unable to attend commission meetings during traditional work hours.
He also has the support of well respected leaders, including Caryl Shuham, who will be the city's voice on the County Commission, County Commissioner Beam Furr, and a mix of school board, municipal, and legislative leaders. They all trust him, and you should too.
The other canddiate running is non-profit executive Erin Marvasti, a longtime resident of the city who is endorsed by many local leaders.
